Should I invest in an energy efficient pool pump?

Pool pumps are expensive. Energy Efficient Pool Pumps are twice as expensive. Why would I spend the extra money on this device? It is a reasonable question. Obviously, the answer is to save money. Unfortunately, most homeowners don’t understand just how much of the power bill comes from their pool.

Conserve Energy: What changes when you put in an energy efficient pool pump?

Common to all energy efficient pumps is Variable Speed (VS) which allows you, the user, to adjust the RPMs down. Reducing the RPMs reduces the amps drawn which in turn means less watts used. how low can you go? VS pumps can be dialed down to less than 1,000 RPMs. The real question is, “How low should you go?”
