Why would you want to heat your house while you’re at work, or while you’re cozy cuddled up in your down comforter? Keeping your thermostat at a constant temperature is a waste. If you’re at home during the day, set it to 68 degrees. At night, turn down the thermostat to 55 degrees. You can save a pretty penny in the summer time by making sure your thermostat is either off or set to 82 degrees or higher while you are not home.    Whether or not you should turn it off or set it higher is unique to your home’s efficiency.  Remote control thermostats not only give you those savings but also allow you to adjust when your plans change on the fly.
